Introduction

A centrifugal exhaust fan is a type of air extraction fan that uses centrifugal force to remove contaminated air, dust, fumes, chemical vapors, or hot air from the environment. These fans are widely used in various industries such as workshops, factories, laboratories, industrial kitchens, parking garages, and warehouses.

Main Components of a Centrifugal Exhaust Fan

1) Centrifugal Impeller

  • Types: Backward, Forward, Radial
  •  Number of blades: 6 to 12
  •  Material: Galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel
  •  Function: Increases air pressure using rotational motion and centrifugal force

2) Housing (Fan Housing)

  • Spiral-shaped design to direct air toward the outlet
  •  Material: Steel sheet with a thickness of 1.5 to 4 mm
  • Coating: Electrostatic powder paint to prevent corrosion

3) Electric Motor

  • Single-phase or three-phase
  • Power: 0.25 to 30 kW
  • Thermal Class: F
  •  Protection rating: IP55
  • Speed: 900 / 1400 / 2800 RPM (depending on application)

4) Coupling or Belt–Pulley Drive (Direct Drive / Belt Drive)

Direct Drive:

  • Suitable for medium pressure
  • High efficiency, low maintenance

Belt Drive:

  • Suitable for high-pressure applications
  • Adjustable fan speed
  • Ideal for heavy industrial systems

5) Base Frame & Vibration Isolators

  •  Sturdy steel frame
  • Installable on floor, wall, or ceiling
  • Rubber or spring vibration isolators to reduce vibration

6) Inlet and Outlet

  • Conical inlet to reduce pressure loss
  • Rectangular or circular outlet
  • Compatible with dampers or duct connections

7) Safety Guard and Motor Cover

  • Prevents foreign objects from entering
  • Protects the motor from impact and dust

Technical Specifications

1) Airflow Capacity (Air Flow Rate): 1,000 to 80,000 CFM

2) Static Pressure: 200 to 1200 Pa, depending on impeller type (Backward or Radial)

3) Impeller Type

  • Backward Inclined: High efficiency, low noise, suitable for industrial ventilation.
  • Forward Curved: High airflow, lower pressure, suitable for general ventilation.
  • Radial Blade: Handles dust and particles, abrasion-resistant, used in workshops and heavy industries.

4) Housing Material

  • Galvanized steel
  •  ST37 steel with electrostatic coating
  • Stainless steel 304 for corrosive environments (kitchens, chemical industries)
  • Housing thickness: 1.2 to 4 mm

5) Electric Motor Specifications

  •  Power:0.25 to 30 kW
  • Voltage: 220V or 380V
  •  Protection rating: IP54 / IP55
  •  Speed: 900 / 1400 / 2800 RPM
  •  Ambient temperature tolerance: up to 55°C

6) Noise Level: 65 to 95 dB

7) Operating Temperature:

  • Standard: 0 to 60°C
  • Special models: up to 150°C (for thermal exhaust applications)

Applications of Centrifugal Exhaust Fans

  • Factories and production lines
  •  Woodworking, painting, and welding workshops
  • Laboratories and chemical facilities
  •  Industrial kitchens
  • Warehouses and storage facilities
  • Parking garages
  • Smoke and odor extraction
